Assalamualaikum, first of all I would like to start by apologizing for my absence these past years! Life has been a DRAMA! It was a hectic life but let me tell you about it another time I assure you :D
I've done a lot of thinking these few days(yeah like I haven't before!) and I just couldn't keep it inside of me any longer, I wanted to tell someone about it! I might explode with too much thinking! Do you know that nowadays our teenagers (ME) have lose the beauty of being a teen? Teens, we should go out and explore, take risks, make mistake and learn from it. From the things that I've seen, WE are so shaped by the society that the education you take is more important than achieving the dreams you want. What if I say I wanted to become a musician? The first thing my parents or most parents would say is "How are you gonna make a living?" "You are being too unrealistic!" "You will starve if you do music." etc. Okay, I get it. You want the best for us by choosing a better future for us and deciding what's good and what's not. You don't want to see us becoming a useless person that is dictated by the society, you don't want us living of the street just because I want to sing!
FYI, my parents(thankfully) are very supportive of my dreams of becoming a psychologist. There were MANY times that I regretted and doubted my decision. I'm the eldest, I had to help my family, support them! What am I suppose to achieve by majoring in psychology? Heck I'm still asking myself those questions everyday. I was scared, I knew I took a risk but I'm still young! And finally this is my point (Fuhh...)
Most Teens will choose medicine, engineering or accounting. These are the few popular degrees that will "ensure you're future" This mindset has been drilled into our minds especially onto our vulnerable generations these days. When I say vulnerable, I meant by the ways kids are so affected by the media that they ignore the thought of the news being untrue! I believe that average Teens in our generations already know this, it's not about the courses you're pursuing but it's about believing in your own passion and not giving up on them that will bring a brighter future But enough of that ancient thinking, because majority will believe that it might make us happy but won't assure us a secure future financially. Not to mention, the system our government had applied aren't doing a good job in making our lives better but lets not dwell on that matter.
I just wonder what happened to the risk-takes and our future leaders that is poor in our country? What is going to happen if this goes on? Our generations might lack self thinking ability and rely on the old generations. Eventually, the mindset of our generations will be brainwashed by the system, we will be a slave to money and fortune. Dear youngster, are we not the the future leaders? Are we not the pillars? If you are then raise the blinds that has covered our sight and visions. Keep making mistake and learn from your past decisions, look back and say "I'm a teen and I am young!"
